Sure Steps to a Brighter Life

By: Guy Finley

"In the long run, our attitude towards life's lessons - and the direction our life takes in life - are one and the same; show me someone who resists the Light of Life's correction in the course of his or her soul, and I will show you someone whose destiny is the darkness of total self-enclosure."

Even though the Truth is never further away from us than our wish for its awakening and self-healing insight, there are distinct moments in life when it comes closer to us than others. Unfortunately, almost all of these important, potentially life-changing moments are entirely missed because what is wrong with us, our false nature, always sees Truth as an attacking enemy. Let me show you what I mean so that the next time Truth makes an unexpected appearance in your life you will recognize it for what it is -- a friendly and beneficial force that is on your side. Permitting the Truth to do what it is intended to do will permit you to be what you want to be -- which is happy.

Never are the healing powers of the Truth so close by as when a crisis is at hand. A crisis always precedes any real inner-advancement because real spiritual growth is a process of removing self-blocking thoughts and feelings. The reason a crisis must precede each new level of authentic self-unity is that the crisis, whatever it may be, points out where we have been holding onto a particular belief, a shaky pretense, or some flattering but deceptive self-image that is in conflict with reality. Where there is conflict there is always pain; and by the time this unconscious kind of psychological or emotional pain reaches the level of our consciousness, we generally experience it as some kind of a crisis. This explains why a crisis is a close encounter of the truthful kind. The previously invisible internal conflict, which is always at the root of any personal crisis, is now temporarily visible. We can say this in another way. A crisis arises when some inner-lie we have unconsciously been telling ourselves is about to surface and be seen as a lie. Let's take an example or two.

Maybe a man pictures himself as always being in control of his own life, but now he's suddenly aware that he can't stop drinking -- or talking -- or endlessly worrying. He has reached a turning point.

A woman has always thought of herself as being loving and kind, but all at once she begins to notice how critical and cruel her thoughts are towards others. She sees she only does things for others to have them think of her as being kind, and this fills her day with resentments. She has reached a turning point.

In both instances, where the terrible cost of living from lying but flattering self-images has suddenly become conscious, the only alternative that the false self has, as the author of these self-deceptive lies, is to start blaming everyone and everything for the unhappy circumstances. This system of self-subterfuge is almost fail-safe for the false self. By seeing to it that everything outside of it is constantly laid to blame, it keeps you fighting with life instead of learning from it. It is really very cunning. The more you take the side of defending what is wrong in you, the more the Truth that exposed the unconscious wrongness appears to be against you.

The Truth never causes pain. The only pain in a crisis is the false self's resistance to the Truth. A crisis only becomes a breaking point when we fail to use it as a turning point. In order to transform a crisis into a personal turning point in your life, you must wish to be shown the lesson in the crisis rather than allow yourself to be convinced by it that the world is against you. This Higher Wish, followed by your willingness to endure a new kind of pain, gives birth to a Higher Consciousness in you that belongs to your True Nature. This Elevated Consciousness never has to solve a crisis because it never has one in the first place.

"In the long run, our attitude towards life's lessons - and the direction our life takes in life - are one and the same; show me someone who resists the Light of Life's correction in the course of his or her soul, and I will show you someone whose destiny is the darkness of total self-enclosure."

Highest Vision

~ Ralph Marston - The Daily Motivator

Look up from what you're doing and look around for a minute. See what a beautiful world you're in.

Take your mind off the problems for a moment, and focus on the positive possibilities. Consider how very much you are able to do.

Turn your attention for a while away from the worries and anxieties. Remind yourself of all your many blessings.

The direction of your focus is the direction your life will move. Let yourself move toward what is good, valuable, strong and true.

The things that fill your awareness are the things that will fill your life and your world. So expand your awareness beyond your own concerns and toward the best of what can be.

Look up and look confidently toward the highest vision you can imagine. The moment you do, you're on your way there.

Frustration and Annoyance

~ Ralph Marston - The Daily Motivator

There is nothing that makes you frustrated.

Any frustration you experience is the result of your own choice to react with frustration.

There is nothing that makes you annoyed. Any annoyance you experience comes about because you have decided to be annoyed.

You can choose to be annoyed, frustrated, angry, and spiteful. You can also choose not to be.

Imagine how effective you could be if there was nothing that annoyed you. That level of effectiveness is yours to choose, right here, right now.

All sorts of things will happen in your world today. You can let them get to you, and annoy and frustrate you, or you can choose to follow your own path.

You have the power to be free of frustration, free of annoyance, free to accomplish and enjoy life. Choose that freedom today.

Being Angry

“Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.” – Mark Twain

Holding a grudge has about the same logic as drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. You are harming yourself by carrying all of that negative energy. Let the bitterness go… for your own benefit. The person who criticized you is probably having a great time without giving you a second thought, while you waste your life sending them death rays with your mind.

Worth every moment

-- Ralph Marston - The Daily Motivator

Some days will be joyful and other days will be painful. Through it all, life is worth every moment.

Some experiences will be frustrating and others will be exhilarating. Choose to see the positive value in all those experiences, and to grow stronger with each one.

On some days the sunshine will feel delightfully warm and on other days the wind will be bitterly cold. Yet every day, each feeling can make you feel more richly alive.

The future may at times appear bright and at other times seem to be deeply troubling. Whatever the case, you can always make the very best of the time you have, as it comes.

Life will always have its ups and downs. Instead of making a judgment about every experience, make the choice to embrace it all.

See each day as an opportunity to grow stronger, more capable and more thankful for life's limitless possibilities. Use each day to bring the best of those possibilities into being in new, unique and meaningful ways.

Pay the price for success

-- Ralph Marston - The Daily Motivator

Success has a price, and today you have the golden opportunity to pay that price. Choose to do so, and valuable, unique, new fulfilling success is yours.

Though the price you must pay for success is significant, it is never a burden. Willingly, joyfully and enthusiastically pay that price, and true success will fill your life.

To pay the price of success, you must engage your effort, your creativity, your resourcefulness and a whole lot of other strengths, skills and abilities. What's truly beautiful is that when you pay the price of success, it actually ends up paying you back many, many times over.

If you're trying to avoid paying the price of success, you're running away from your best possibilities. Stop, turn around, step up, do what must be done, and taste the sweet fulfillment that's waiting for you.

Success has a very steep price, and one of life's greatest joys is the experience of paying that price. Don't ever cheat yourself out of the opportunity to feel that joy.

Success has many benefits, and one big benefit is in the price you must pay. Pay that price, every chance you get, and enjoy the immense rewards of doing so.

Temporary Condition

-- Ralph Marston - The Daily Motivator

What you are experiencing right now is a temporary condition. Things will soon be different, so act accordingly.

If life is going well, make the very most of your good fortune. Work to transform it into even more good things.

If life is not going so well, you can take steps right now to change that. Change will most certainly come, so work to make those changes positive, meaningful and enriching.

The way your life is now is not the way your life will always be. Fully enjoy all the good things about this moment while also working to create a positive future.

As good as things are right now, you can make them better. As difficult as things are right now, you can make them better.

This day, this moment, this experience will eventually pass. Give it your best while it is here, and then move forward to something even better.
