Back Breaking Fashion Trends

Don't you just love the fact that women have an advantage over men when it comes to fashion and style? You wear things that they can never possibly slip into and walk around in sky-high stilettos that make you feel all high and mighty. Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City) finds her fix in a pair of Manolo Blahnik and at one point in the series; she even had a fear that she would be an old woman who lived in her shoes! Fashion trends, clothes, accessories, shoes – they are all so addictive, aren't they?

Being fashionable and trendy gives you a new high and a makeover feels like the best thing that ever happened! But, how good are these trends for your health? Tight clothes that barely let you breathe, shoes that sprain your ankle and make-up with a generous dose of chemicals that causes irreparable damage to your skin. Can it get any worse?

Learn from Lady Gaga's mistakes
Lady Gaga, the weirdest of them all when it comes to opting for a different look, experienced firsthand effects of taking fashion trends too far. Even the most glamorous of celebrities opt for a normal daytime look and don't walk around in uncomfortable heels. Gaga being Gaga had to look edgier and the result was her infamous fall at the Heathrow airport. Her attention-seeking outfit coupled with her monstrous platform boots spelled disaster. One look and you could tell that a fall was inevitable. Let this be a lesson and avoid parading around in shoes that are meant for display purposes, in museums only.

The fall collection witnessed an actual fall!
The Dennis Basso show at the New York Fashion week grabbed headlines, but for all the wrong reasons! Models were falling left, right and centre, but it was in Basso's show that the biggest falls were caught on film. Models have been trained to carry themselves up, laugh it off and walk away like nothing has happened. But, what about the crying that happens backstage? Shouldn't designers take precautions rather than train models on 'how to behave once you trip'.

Wear six-inch heels, be ready to fall
If you are in love with your six-inches and cannot give them up for anything in the world, don't be a cry baby when you have a nasty fall. You may injure your back, spine or your ankle – but remember, you chose to wear those heels and nobody forced you to wear them. There are consequences to your actions and tripping is the least that can happen when you walk around in these heels.

High heels cause long-term damage
By wearing high heels, you are at greater risk for Osteoarthritis later in life. The extra pressure you put on your knees causes this problem. The higher the heels, the greater the risks! Now ladies, it's up to you to decide whether you sacrifice comfort for fashion or not.
