Beware of long term usage of Aluminium

Beware of long term usage of Aluminium

Aluminium is an abundant element found in the earth’s crust. It is widely used in many industries and commonly known as an innocent compound. But when one is exposed to it in higher concentrations or on a long term basis it can cause health issues which include:
·         Dementia
·         Loss of memory/ Alzheimer's disease
·         Listlessness
·         Severe trembling

Workers in aluminium factories exposed to aluminum dust may endure lung problems. Aluminium can cause trouble to kidney patients when it enters through dialysis.

Aluminium leaches or is released easily in an acidic medium. Canned foods, soft drink cans and tetra packs (which have a coating of aluminium) can release aluminium in the contents.

Food cooked in aluminium vessels can lead to an increase in aluminium concentration in the body.

If there is no option but to use aluminium utensils for cooking, at least the cooked food should be immediately transferred to non aluminium containers like glass, steel, food grade food grade plastic, steel, glass, ceramic containers etc.

An antidote of Aluminium exposure is Turmeric or haldi. Hence use it abundantly in cooking.

Please reduce usage of Aluminium foil, foil containers as much as possible as it is an environmental hazard too.

An increase in usage of recyclable containers of good quality steel, glass, and food grade plastic will benefit our health and environment too.
