Olympics - Did you know series: Part III

The 2012 London Games is within sight thus, it's the perfect time to get you all the 'Did you know?' facts on Olympics. How many of these do you already know?

Ø  'On a rainbow' is the official song of the Olympic mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville.

Ø  The Olympic stadium was built on 10,000 tonnes of steel.

Ø  London buses have been fitted with high-set TV sets to screen the game.

Ø  The table tennis event at the Games will use 3000 balls.

Ø  2012 London Games will be the first ever Olympics to hold the women's boxing event.

Ø  Women's football is the inaugural event at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Ø  Each athlete will have 16 square meter of floor space at the Olympic village.

Ø  9.6 million tickets will be sold during the Olympics.

Ø  Basketball, handball and Water polo balls will be puffed up by 92 pumps.

Ø  Athletes will use 65,000 towels during the Games.

Ø  26,400 tennis and 310 basket balls will be used in London.

Ø  Karate and squash almost made it to the 2012 Olympics events list

Ø  The 1992 Barcelona Games was the first ever Olympics to provide free condoms.
