Work is one place where you need to look your best. How you dress up, tells a lot about your personality. Being a power dresser is not as hard as it seems to be. You don’t need boring black suits to look empowered and intimidating. There are fun things you can include in your wardrobe like a pink pencil skirt or a statement necklace (think Michelle Obama and Shilpa Shetty). Here are seven pieces every working woman should have in her wardrobe.

White shirt
No work wear style is complete without a crisp white cotton shirt. This is a must-have in your work wardrobe all year long.  Pair it with printed trousers to double the impact.

Blazer
A blazer in black or navy can completely turn an outfit around. It’s very versatile and can be worn with white pants, jeans or even shorts.

Pencil skirt
A pencil skirt is an essential item and will be so for a very long time. Moreover, this classic statement piece is versatile. Choose a black skirt for a sleek look and experiment with bright neon tops or a printed silk blouse; the opportunities are endless.

Black heels
To add more punch to your power dressing another essential is a pair of black heels.

A statement necklace
It doesn’t necessarily have to be big and blingy. Look for something tasteful, like a strand of pearls maybe.

IT bag
A good bag an essential power item. It does not have to be a Louis Vuitton. You might want to go for something big enough that can carry what you need for work – papers, a tablet, phone and even a pair of shoes. But, make sure it’s not too big and bulky either.

Flats
Women who need to be constantly on the move need an alternative to a pair of stilettos; a pair of flats for very busy days is also an essential and has become an important aspect of work wear dressing.
