Why onions are good to eat?

The uses of onions are primarily in cooking, as it is the most abundant ingredient in most dishes. However, there are some medicinal uses of onion.

Medicinal uses
Onion is used as a diuretic, expectorant and antiseptic. Onions are highly recommended to prevent cardiovascular disease, cancer, and infections. They appear to be effective against colds, heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases and contain anti-inflammatory, anticholesterol, and anticancer components.

As with Garlic, Onions help prevent thrombosis and reduce hypertension, according to the American Heart Association.

Its therapeutic uses are as follows:
1.    It removes the obstruction of any part of the body, expels the gases and strengthens the stomach.
2.    It is a diuretic.
3.    It is an anti-helminthic (helps destroy worms in intestine), if taken with vinegar.
4.    Its inhalation is beneficial in the treatment of common colds.
5.    Its oil is effective with alopecia (hair loss).
6.    It can also be used as an expectorant and antipyretic
7.    It normalizes the secretions of the stomach and pancreas. This is very effective in the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus.
8.    It breaks small stones in the kidney and bladder if taken with honey.
9.    It is effective in jaundice when taken with milk.
