The rains have bid farewell to us, and now we are left with the scorching and sweaty ‘October heat’. This heat is unbearable and leads to extreme exhaustion and dehydration. To beat this heat and stay fresh, we give you 20  tips, which will help your skin,  body and health.
 
1: Drink lots of liquids
When the temperatures are soaring, make sure to increase your fluid intake. Never wait to sip water when you are thirsty. Instead keep drinking water at regular intervals, depending on your activity level. The best type of liquid you can choose to keep dehydration at bay is a tall glass of water.
 
2: Wear proper clothing
Choose lightweight, light coloured and loose fitting clothes as much as possible. Loose clothes, will help your skin breathe easily, and thus reduce the chances of skin damage or skin rash.
 
3: Drink some lassi
Lassi possesses great refreshing and hydrating properties. This sweet drink helps cool your body and is the perfect cure for dehydration.
 
4: Sunscreen is necessary
Sunburn is very peculiar during extreme hot temperatures, so, always apply a layer of good SPF 15 sunscreen or higher. Besides, a good sunscreen will also lower your risk of skin cancer.
 
5: Cool down with nimbu paani
Nimbu paani is an excellent remedy to beat the heat. When you feel tired just sip a glass of fresh nimbu paani.
 
6: Wear sunglasses
Protect your eyes with a good pair of sunglasses. Sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection will protect your eyes against sunrays, which can cause dryness and irritation. In addition, it will accentuate your looks as well.
 
7: Protect your hair
Protect your luscious locks with a good hat or scarf, while going outdoors. These accessories will make you look stylish and also protect your hair from the sun's harmful rays, which can result in dry and frizzy hair.
 
8: Eat light meals
Eat smaller and light meals, and drink lots of water. Smaller and lighter meals will ease your digestion and help you feel light.
 
9: Wearing breathing footwear’s
Sneakers and closed shoes are fun and look great, but the absence of air can cause problems like infections and blisters. Choose flip-flops, or allow your feet to breathe as much as possible.
 
10: Avoid sodas
Yes, we tend to reach for a bottle of soda or an aerated drink rather than choosing a bottle of water, because we assume it will cool us. This is just a myth. Choosing sodas, sugary drinks, or caffeinated drinks tend to cause dehydration, so, avoid this.
 
11: Eat fruits
Binge on fruits like watermelon, grapefruit and pineapple, as they are cooling and have a high water content. Eat these fruits as a snack to get your nutrient content and to keep your body cool.
 
12: Avoid junk food
Junk foods are unhealthy and lack nutrients. So, choosing junk food over healthy food, will not give you sufficient energy, which you need to cope with soaring temperatures.
 
13: Keep your body cool
Excessive sweating can just drain your energy levels and make you dull, so, opt for a shower at regular intervals or after excessive sweating. A good shower will keep you fresh and cool.
 
14: Match your salt loss
In order, to match your mineral and salt loss, due to sweating, always keep some glucose or electoral water with you. Keep sipping on it, if you have to stay longer outdoors, it will help you regulate your body temperature.
 
15: Change your outdoor time
If you are an outdoor exercise person, then choose the minimum sun exposure timing i.e. early morning or evening. These hours will make you feel more relaxed and not drain you of energy.
